The 2015 edition of the Nigeria Cup, the premier amateur golf tournament organized by the Ikoyi Golf Community Nigeria Association (IGCNA), is set to kick off on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Golf Section of the Ikoyi Club 1938. The tournament is themed 7 Shades of Green.

Chairman of the organising committe Lanre Kalejaiye stated that N3m has been set aside as star prize for winner of the professional competition.

The 7 Shades of Green reflects the seven days of the tournament, and the celebration of Nigerian Independence week through the game of golf. Each of the seven days will focus on a different category of golfers, and will highlight  different shades of Nigeria’s national colour.

Commenting on the tournament,  Kalejaiye said the week-long program will commence  with the children’s tournament, while Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th and Wednesday, September 30th will be time for the Caddies, Ladies and Professionals.

The Chairman added that this year’s Independence Day Kitty scheduled for Thursday October 1st would be an exciting day of golfing for all club members and will celebrate Nigeria’s rich heritage in the Arts.  The guests, veterans and sponsors will take their turn on the course on Friday, October 2nd, and the Final will be on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 which will climax with a Gala Dinner later in the evening. The qualifier for the Final will be played on Saturday, September 12th.

Oare Ojeikere, head of the media sub-committee said, Primarily the event is a platform to commemorate the independence celebration of the country and that on its own defines a lot in the organization of the event.
