Abuja – The Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, on Wednesday in Abuja allowed the duo of David Obiazor and Nelson Ogbonnaya to leave the team’s camp owing to injuries.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said on its website that both players of Heartland FC of Owerri were consequently out of the team’s upcoming match against Tanzania on Sept. 5.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Eagles are currently in camp in Abuja for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Dar es Salaam.
The Federation said goalkeeper Obiazor and centre-back Ogbonnaya were in the list of 23 home-based professionals invited to camp by Oliseh.
It said the coach would now call up two other players from the domestic league to replace the injured players.
“The players are nursing injuries and after thorough examination by the Super Eagles’ medical personnel, it was agreed that it is best to allow them time to rest and return to their clubs.
“Oliseh will call up replacements for the duo very soon,” the NFF said.
Already, Oliseh has called up 18 overseas-based players for the game the Nigerian side needs to win to stand firm in the running for qualification.
