Nnewi—The Woman Leader of pan –Igbo socio cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Mrs Calista Adimachukwu has expressed great and deep displeasure over President Buhari’s latest appointments for the position of the the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and others postions.
In a statement she issued recently, Chief Mrs Adimachukwu noted that God has given the people of Nigeria everything a nation needs inorder to be successful but when the leaders fail to harness the most important resources like human resources, nation building is at stake.
“Mr. President’s ways of harnessing these resources especially the human aspect is biased, vindictive, and unacceptable to Ndigbo both in Nigeria and in diaspora”.
She asserted that the appointments are not in accordance with the Nigerian constitution.
The ex- LG boss noted that the appointments by President Buhari were lopsided and demanded to know how a country with diverse ethnicity and socio cultural backgrounds should apportion power to a few people from the same region without considering other regions especially the Southeast.
“We all know that integration is very important in every nation’s building but with lopsidedness and tribalism on the side of Mr. President, there will be grave consequences if the President continues this way. “On this note, you can see clearly that Mr. President had demonstrated his deep hatred for Ndigbo, even after he had said he belongs to nobody but belongs to everybody”.
The statement further read: Nigerian is too big for only one region to rule and we Ndigbo see this platitude from Mr. President as tribalism and we will never keep quiet while our position and future are being taken away without consideration. We condemn this glaring hatred for Ndigbo both here in Nigeria and in diaspora by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. We vividly recall that apart from several other appointments, Buhari’s government has also appointed service Chiefs and in a similar manner, he sidelined the Southeast zone”.
“How long shall Ndigbo be pushed to the wall if things continue this way? This trend cannot be allowed to continue. What the Igbo want now is immediate implementation of the report 2014 of the national conference for equitable Nigeria.”
Mrs. Calista further asserted that, the appointment by Mr. President is biased and unacceptable to Ndigbo worldwide and must be reversed for the good governance, peace and unity of Nigeria at large.
“We also use this medium to appeal to Mr. President on the need for the continuation of the second Niger Bridge for the betterment and socio economic development of the people”.
