Kwara United beat FC IfeanyiUbah 2-1 in Oba

Oba (Anambra) – Visiting Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin on Wednesday defeated FC IfeanyiUbah of Nnewi 2-1 in a match played at the Rojenny Stadium in Oba, near Onitsha.

The Nnewi side opened scoring in the 10th minute of the game with Maduabuchi Okereke scoring during a goalmouth scramble.

After series of misses, Samsom Bobga drew the visitors level in the 28th minute, while Gata Ismail put his team ahead in the 34th minute.

The hosts thereafter struggled to turn the game round, but second half substitute Chukwuma Ukatu disappointed the anxious fans when he had the goalkeeper to beat in the 70th minute.

Tunde Sanni, coach of the Ilorin-based side, said the result was a good beginning for him as a coach who was just taking charge.

“But my team will continue to work for more victories so as to remain afloat in the league,’’ he said.

Coach John Obuh of the home side displayed much of his bitterness at the outcome of the game by refusing to speak with journalists.

“I am not in the mood,’’ he said.

NAN reports that FC IfeanyiUbah have managed a loss and a draw in their last two league games against Heartland FC and Nasarawa United.(NAN)
