Tribunal orders INEC to allow APGA candidate examine election materials

ASABA — THE Delta State House of Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Asaba, yesterday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate for the Oshimili North Constituency in the last House of Assembly polls, Chief Tony Azuya to inspect all the materials used.

The chairman of the tribunal, Justice L.M. Bousini gave the order following a prayer to this effect by the counsel for the petitioner, Chike Onyemenam, SAN.

The judge, who stressed the need for counsel to the parties to be time conscious, warned that any change of counsel will not stop the proceedings of the tribunal and ordered that the inspection be concluded within seven days, but not more than 10 days of date of pronouncement of the order.

The respondent in the matter, Hon. Pat Ajudua, who was in court and represented by a counsel from Akpofure Chambers, did not object to the order, neither did INEC object to the order too.

Chief Tony Azuya is seeking to be returned as the winner of the said election.

Sitting on the matter will continue on Monday, June 29, 2015.
