NIGER DELTAN POLLS: PDP accused of trying to justify electoral fraud

The Niger Deltan Progressives League, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of attempting to justify what it described as the colossal electoral fraud it perpetrated in Delta, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states during the last general elections.

While addressing newsmen yesterday in Warri, General Coordinator of the league, Comrade Parker Ossai accused PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh of telling a cocktail of lies to suggest that the All Progressive Congress, APC is not entitled to challenge the elections as prescribed by law.

Alleging that the PDP is nothing more than a rigging machine,  Ossai wondered why the party was jittery about the APC seeking redress at the elections petitions tribunals if it is confident it genuinely won free and fair elections in the various states.

According to him: “The fact that their presidential candidate conceded victory is beside the point. He was not doing anybody any favour. He merely accepted defeat in good faith like a gentleman, something the likes of Metuh are uncomfortable with. That does not mean the APC should forgo its right to challenge any other election it is convinced was rigged to its detriment.

”If PDP is thinking that because Jonathan conceded defeat therefore it will be allowed to get away with massive electoral fraud in the South-South, it is merely dreaming. If according to Metuh, there were electoral irregularities in the North-West and South-West, his party should have gone to court. ”That PDP refused to go to the tribunal, knowing fully well that it will lose, does not preclude APC from going there when it is convinced it has a solid case. ”
