Ugwuanyi, others laud voters for massive turnout

The governorship candidate of the PDP in Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has commended people of the state for coming out en masse to vote.

Ugwuanyi gave the commendation on Saturday shortly after casting his vote at Amube Ward, Orba in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The candidate who is also the member representing Igboeze South/Udenu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, said the people had shown that democracy was for the people and by the people.

He urged the people to remain calm and resolute until the results were announced.

Ugwuanyi also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections and the orderly manner in which the people conducted themselves. The governorship candidate of the Independent Democrat party, Mr Charles Ibeh, also lauded the peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.

Ibeh expressed satisfaction on the early arrival of INEC officials and materials. Chief Donatus Uzoagbado, seeking re-election for the Oji River State constituency, on the platform of the PDP, said the election was a true reflection of the democratic process as people were allowed to vote without intimidation.
