Ahead of the make or mar second-leg encounter for the qualification for the 2015 All Africa Games between Nigeria and Zambia, Chief Coach of the National U-23 team, Samson Siasia has revealed that he will not be relying on the foreign based players for the fixture.
The Dream Team IV as the team is fondly called must win or at least pull a score draw against the Zambians to have any hope of booking their place in the championship after pulling a barren draw in the first leg played at the Abuja National Stadium.
Siasia who spoke through the media officer of the team, Timi Ebikagboro said he has decided to rely more on the home based players because he does not want to be disappointed by the foreign based players who may not be available because their clubs may not want to release them as the time does not fall within the FIFA free window.
According to him, the coach is well aware of the importance of the encounter hence he is not leaving anything to chance.
“I can confirm to you that the Coach is taking this very encounter very seriously because we played a barren draw here in Abuja, therefore we must either win in Lusaka or at least play a score draw to progress and that is why the intense training you are seeing here. The boys are being properly drilled to toughen them for the task ahead’’.
