Speaking yesterday in Lagos, NCC’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eugene Juwah, represented by the Director, Public Affairs, Tony Ojobo said the commission was investing in the sponsorship of the competition to achieve its two-pronged objectives of developing the game and arresting youths restiveness.
“This competition is modelled after the prestigious Davis Cup and it is not limited to just the youths alone, as tennis enthusiasts can come along to participate but they have to align with the teams competing in this inaugural edition.
The winning team will get N5, fist runner up will earn N3m, second runner up walks home with N2m and the third runner up will gross N1m. Eight teams, comprising Civil Defence, Tombin, Team Delta, Team Anambra, all in the Blue Group and the White Group, featuring Kaloku, Team Ogun, Team FCT and CBN Futures will battle it out in a round robin set of matches.
