BENIN CITY—THE Chairman of Esan South East Local Government Council of Edo State, Mr. Joseph Ikpea has donated relief materials to rainstorm victims, just as he gave assistance to indigent persons in the council.
He donated bundles of zinc to rainstorm victims at ward 7 Ubiaja and also a laptop to an indigent boy, Vincent Ehiaghe who is computer literate.
While also donating the sum of N100,000 to Mr. Wilson Agwumede, an accident victim from ward 8, the council boss said the gesture is part of his efforts to bring smiles on the faces of the victims and indigent people in the council.
According to him: “This is not about politics, but caring for the needy because my elder brother has a foundation that he is using to alleviate poverty in the society and for me, it is to complement his efforts because one person cannot do it alone.
“Besides, I’d experienced life both as a poor boy and what I am today. I’d discovered that poverty is not good at all. So we have to help the poor because without that you cannot sleep comfortably in your home,” he stated.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Okoh Oboh expressed gratitude to the chairman of the council and prayed God to always protect him and his family.
