ABUJA—Nigerian has donated food items and commodities worth millions of naira to the victims of drought that ravaged Namibia in year 2013-2014.
The items consist of 300 metric tons of rice, 700 metric tons of maize and three metric tons of fish fillets and powder.
Head of Chancery, Nigeria High Commission in Namibia, Mr. Dayo Adeoye, said in a statement in Abuja that the food items were all produced locally in Nigeria.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Akinwumi Adesina who presented the materials to the government of the Republic of Namibia few days ago in Windhoek, explained that the donation was based on the recommendation of the Nigeria High Commission in Windhoek, Namibia which drew the attention of the Federal Government to the drought that ravaged Namibia in 2013/2014, which led to the death of human beings and livestock due to unavailability of food.
