By Marie-Therese Nanlong

Jos — The Plateau State command of the Nigeria Police has urged residents of the state to celebrate the victory of their parties with decorum so as not to disturb the fragile peace in the state.

It also warned politicians and their supporters against the use of weapons and offensive language as the command had perfected security strategy to deal decisively with any mischief maker under any guise.

In a statement signed in Jos yesterday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abuh Emmanuel, members of the public were further urged to cooperate with the police and other security agencies for peace to reign.

The statement read, “The Plateau State police command wishes to commend the good people of Plateau State, the electorate, politicians and their supporters for high level of patriotism and maturity exhibited during the last Saturday presidential election.

“However, members of the public and party supporters while celebrating the victory of their parties as results are being announced must do so with high level of maturity and decorum…

“Apart from that, members of the public and party loyalists while celebrating must desist from the use of any weapon and offensive language bearing in mind that the victory of any party is a victory for all Nigerians and the command has the capacity to protect lives and property of the people.”

It however, urged members of the public to go about their legitimate businesses as the command was set to deal with mischief makers.
