Politicians urged to put Nigeria’s unity above personal ambition

Ahead of the rescheduled general elections in March and April this year, Amnesty Students Advocacy for Peace, ASAP, has called on Nigerian politicians to put the unity of the country above personal ambition.

The group, in a statement by its President, Mr. Bigha Ebenezer, at the Igbinedion University, Okada town, Edo State, cautioned politicians to desist from making inflammatory statements in their election campaigns that are capable of heating up the polity, adding, “We should not pull down the country that our founding fathers made enormous sacrifices to build.”

The group which is canvassing for a nationwide support for the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan, called on the Arewa Consultative Forum, Afenifere, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASOB, and other interest groups in Nigeria to ensure violence free polls, come March and April.
