ONITSHA—Legal battle has at last resumed in court between Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and Anglican Diocese on the Niger over the demolition of the church at Oyolu-Oze, Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area.
The legal tussle, which is now pending before Justice Diribe Amechine of an Otuocha High Court, Anambra East Local Government Area, was brought against Governor Obiano, the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice and others by the Diocese on the Niger of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.
At the end of yesterday’s proceeding, the case was adjourned to January 23, 2015, for further hearing.
When the case was called up, counsel to the Diocese, Chief Udechukwu Udechukwu (SAN), told the court that they had filed an application for prohibition against Anambra State govern-ment to stop the panel it set up on the demolition of the church.
