Why I’m gunning for Senate as a first-timer — Bisi Salis

By Starrys Obazei

BISI Salis of Lagos East senatorial district, weekend, said she is running for Senate as a first timer in politics because “my people and party members believe in me.”

Speaking with journalists, she said: “My party members know this is my first time of gunning for any political position, yet they want nothing less than a senatorial seat for me and I am gunning for it. As far as I am concerned the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

During a campaign tour of Lagos East senatorial district that consists of Epe, Shomolu, Kosofe, Ikorodu and Ibeju Lekki, she said that opponents who view her as an under-dog would get a shocker. She said, “Call me a political neophyte to your own detriment if you are my competition. I had been living and relating with my people for decades. They know me and I know them. Nobody knows this terrain of relationship with Ikorodu and Ibeju Lekki people more than me.”

Vanguard gathered that Mrs. Bisi Salis, had been ‘watering’ the needy in her community. “My approach is not to give fish to the needy; I give them hooks to fish for themselves.”
