Christian group’s ex-president urges politicians to end crisis in Nasarawa

By Caleb Ayansina

ABUJA – Former President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, Ambassador Simon Dolly, weekend, called on politicians in Nasarawa State, to end the ongoing crisis in the state, by calling their supporters to order.

Dolly, who is also the founder of Youth for Peace and Good Leadership Initiative International, YPGLII, said the crisis was a potential threat to the economy of the state, as people were fleeing the state on daily basis to save their lives.

Describing the crisis as political, he said “the situation is getting out of hands, and if our political elites will not direct their followers to behave well, it will cause a lot of havoc to the entire state. The economy of the state capital, Lafia, is gone, because, most of the non-indigenes, who are doing buying and selling in the state are running away.

“The only way out of the problem is for political leaders to play the game of politics according to the rules. I’m calling on government to come up with a strong legislation, and ensure that, any group or person found wanting is dealt with to serve as deterrent to others.”
