PRESIDING Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, Dr. Mike Okonkwo, weekend, joined thousands of Nigerians to lament over the inability of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to distribute Permanent Voters Card, PVC, ahead of next year’s general elections.

Addressing newsmen at the opening ceremony of church’s 25th Kingdom Life World Conference 2014, at the TREM headquarters in Lagos, Okonkwo said he was yet to receive his permanent voters card since INEC started the distribution, stressing that there was no collection centre within the church environment.

The cleric stated that he had mandated his church members to ensure that they collect their voters’ cards and make sure they vote in credible leaders who will deliver the dividends of democracy during the 2015 general election.

In his words: “Up till now, I have not collected my permanent voters card and I have to mobilise my members to vote. There are no polling booths around our area and this is the first time such a thing is happening. I called some people to know what is happening that I am not able to get my permanent voters card but there was no explanation”.

Speaking on the rising wave of insurgency, Okonkwo appealed to the Federal Government to fish out saboteurs within the security agencies, adding that all hands must be on deck to arrest the insurgents in the country.

He noted that there are some individuals in the country who are making the military effort fruitless, stressing “the truth is that there are saboteurs in the army and that is why I am concerned about the soldiers who were sentenced to death for mutiny and dismissal of the commander in charge. To me, it is not acceptable.

“Find out the bad eggs within the military, because I don’t believe that Nigeria lacks the military capability to deal with the insurgents. When you have saboteurs within the military, it becomes very difficult for the Army to operate.”
