AGBOR—Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State has appealed for urgent intervention from the Federal Government, through the ecological fund, to arrest the worsening erosion and environmental degradation ravaging Agbor metropolis and its environs.

Chairman of the council’s transition committee, Mr. Andrew Obiazi, made the appeal while monitoring the ongoing drainage construction in the metropolis.

The drainage construction being executed by the council from Ebeye Street by Baleke Street Junction to Queen Street and from Queen Street by Ebeye Street Junction to the New Lagos/Asaba Expressway.

According to him, the assistance will go a long way in ameliorating the plight of residents of Agbor who had been suffering the effects of ecological problem occasioned by gully erosion.

He noted that unless something was done urgently to address the situation, residents would no longer feel safe to live in the areas as they currently lived in perpetual fears for their lives and properties.
