ABUJA — AHEAD of the October 11 Adamawa State gubernatorial election, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, pleaded with party members in the state to close ranks as one family and support the Acting governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who is the candidate of the party to ensure the success of PDP in the election.
In a statement, yesterday, by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party leadership, while congratulating acting Governor Ahmed Fintri for his emergence as the party’s candidate during last Saturday’s primary election, also commended other aspirants for their rare show of the spirit of sportsmanship and unwavering commitment to the party throughout the nomination process.
According to Metuh, party leadership is “satisfied with the level of camaraderie and sense of purpose that characterised the primary election.”
He praised the delegates and all major stakeholders in the state for the orderly manner they conducted themselves during the exercise.
The party attributed the success of the exercise to the “spirit of oneness within the fold in Adamawa State, effectively harnessed through the insistence by the national leadership on strict adherence to the tenets of internal democracy which provided accommodation for all in line with the ideology of the PDP and principles of fairness, justice and equity.”
In the same vein, the leadership of the party also congratulated its candidate, Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu, for emerging victorious at the Niger East senatorial by-election.
The PDP described the outcome of the election as a confirmation of the popularity of the PDP among the people at the grass roots, adding that Niger State remained “a stronghold of the PDP.”
