Kuku tasks Ijaw on culture promotion

YENAGOA— Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has stressed the need for the Ijaw ethnic group to promote the culture and traditions of their people, as the importance of culture in defining the identity of a people cannot be over emphasised.

Kuku, who spoke in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during the public presentation of the book Kule written by Inemo Oruwari and Nengi James, described the book as a rich addition to the sociology and history of the Ijaw people.
Represented by Mr. Patterson Ogon, Kuku said the authors were passionate about their roots, noting that the unveiling of the book was a testimony of of their contribution to the cultural history of the Ijaw.
