Gusau – The Zamfara Government on Tuesday says it will feed over 150,000 people during the upcoming Ramadan as part of its welfare package to the citizens.
Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara made this known in Gusau when he distributed foodstuffs and clothing to 8,500 orphans through the State Zakkat and Endowment Board.
Yari said the gesture was aimed at assisting the needy to enable them to perform their Ramadan fasting and Sallah celebrations in happy mood.
He further said the state government would also distribute clothing materials to about one million people, including over 600,000 females and 375,000 males.
The governor urged the distributing committee to ensure fairness and justice while conducting their assignment.
He commended the effort of the board for selecting the needy from all parts of the state.
He, therefore, called on the orphans and less privileged in the state to remain supportive to the state government.
Yari pledged that government would continue to initiate programmes and policies that have direct impact on the people.
The governor also promised to sustain the assistance. (NAN)
