GRAN Imperio Group, GIG, promoters of upscale affordable homes has launched a new concept for home ownership. The concept which is known as essential homes, will offer ‘clean and comfortable homes’ to prospective individual home owners and corporate organisations.

The concept is being test-run with 100 unit-South Pointe Estate to be sited on a three hectares parcel of land at Lafiaji in the Lekki peninsula part of Lagos.

The Lagos-based real estate development firm has also concluded plans to deliver South Point II which would be build on five hectares parcel of land. The proposed estate comprises 40 units of one- bedroom bungalows, 60 units of two -bedroom bungalows, 48 units of three- bedroom bungalows and 48 units of four- bedroom bungalows. The company also plans to embark on the development of Lakeview Park II, which is located on almost two hectares of land.

Disclosing these facts to newsmen, the company’s managing director, Mr. Adeyeye Ogunwusi said also unveiled plans for its 1.9 hectare-Golden Leaf Estate which upon completion, will accommodate 72 families. Specifically, the estate will consist of 36 three and 36 four- bedroom bungalows.

Mr. Ogunwusi who said his passion to relieve the burden of homelessness among middle-class Nigerians was one of the reasons his company decided to undertake Essential Homes project. The company, he said, plans to deliver the first phase within 100 days.

Lekki peninsula

Continuing, the GIG boss who disclosed that a 26.5 hectares parcel of land has also been secured to construct 848 housing units to be named Y’hello Estate. A breakdown shows that the estate would comprise 60, 288, 264, and 236 of one, two, three and four bedrooms in the Lafiaji area of Lekki peninsula.

Similarly, the company has acquired 90.4 hectares of land within Abraham Adesanya Estate in the Lekki corridor to build 554 housing units.

“It was designed to produce 110 units of one bedroom, 156 of two- bedroom bungalows, 144 of three and 144 of four -bedroom bungalows; it would be known as Grand Lake. At Oworoshoki under Oworoshoki Redevelopment Scheme, 200 families would have opportunity to subscribe to any of the house types including 40, 60, 48 and 52 one, two, three and four bedroom apartments.

“All the estates are affordable yet classy in style, are exquisitely finished terrace bungalows, spiced with comfortable ambience. They have air conditioning, good quality finishes, adequate parking, private garden, AstroTurf football pitch, swimming pool, fitted kitchen among other recreational facilities.

Specifically, these estates have been conceptualised as medium but upscale residential schemes, targeted to redefine the nation’s housing industry in a significant way.

“At the moment, Essential Homes pilot projects are currently ongoing in five strategic locations. But ready for immediate habitation are 28 units, while 72 units in South Pointe would be fully ready for subscribers to move in by the end of June 2014. Infrastructure that come with the schemes are roads, walkways, streetlights, CCTV, purified water, central sewage system, 24-hour electricity supply,” he said

“At the moment, organised private sectors from all the blue chip companies that have come together under cooperatives and groups in order to take headlong the housing challenges for a lot of the employees are MTN Cooperative Society, Addax, BATN, MEMCOS, Airtel, Shell among others”, Ogunwusi stated.
