PORT HARCOURT—Mr. Henry Akangbou, whose only son, Donbraye, was allegedly murdered by a soldier last year in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has cried out to the Nigerian Army for justice, Mr. Henry Akangbou, in a statement in Port Harcourt, said it was sad that several months after the Army authorities at the 2 Brigade in Port Harcourt claimed to have concluded investigation into the issue, the soldier allegedly responsible for his son’s death was yet to be charged to court.
The worried father, in the statement by his lawyer, pleaded with the Nigerian Army to ensure that justice was done on the matter.
It will be recalled that the late Donbraye allegedly lost his life during an argument with a soldier. Akangbou told Vanguard that life had not been the same for the family since the sad incident last year.
The family had written a letter to the Nigerian Army and Police High Commands in Abuja, seeking justice on the issue.
Mr Akangbou said the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army was yet to say when the soldier allegedly behind the painful loss would be made to face justice.
“All I want is justice on this matter. That is what will console us as a family,” he said.
Mr Akangbou, a retiree, said: “You can imagine my pain, losing my only son in my old age.”
Effort to get the authorities of the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, to comment on the issue was futile.
At press time, a text message to the spokesman of the Brigade, Major Michael Etete, on what the Brigade had done on the matter had not been responded to.
