Former Captain of the tennis section of Port Harcourt Club Chief Ernest Elochukwu, says the Super Eagles can defeat France in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
Elochukwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Thursday that although Nigeria lost to Argentina in the last Group F match, the Eagles played well.
“It is on this premise that I believe that the Eagles can stand on their own against France when they meet in the round of 16 match.
“The Eagles fought gallantly against Argentina. If they improve on their next match against France, they will win that match.’’
Elochukwu urged the eagles to play France with more determination because no team is invincible in the world cup.
“Playing against France will not be a big problem because no team is invincible in global soccer now.
“I urge Nigerians to support the Eagles and cheer them to victory. We have a team and a good coach.
“My humble advice to the team is to take the battle to their opponents; be determined and focused.’’
The former tennis captain said the Eagles had the ability to take the initiative and maintain their standard of game.
‘’ They should prove that being African champions is no fluke.’’ (NAN)
