OSOGBO—GOVERNOR Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, yesterday in Ile-Ife, flagged off his re-election campaign, declaring that the August 9 governorship election would be a total victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Addressing party’s supporters from all the 30 Local Government Areas of the state including the Area office, Modakeke, Aregbesola said APC had defeated the PDP roundly in the last two previous elections.
“In 2007 governorship election, our mandate was stolen but God restored it back to us. Also, in 2011 general election, we recorded 100 percent victory. This time around, the August 9 election would put the final nail on the PDP coffin”, he said.
Speaking at the rally held at Ife Technical College, Ile-Ife and attended by leaders and supporters of the party from Lagos and Osun states, Aregbesola said he embarked on series of developmental projects to satisfy yearnings of Osun people for a better society.
He declared that Yoruba people had never been part of reactionary government since Independence and urged people of the state to vote for APC to allow it execute its other life-changing programmes for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, chieftains of the party all urged people of the state to vote for performance and not sentiment, assuring of better performance if Aregbesola was re-elected for another term.
The state chairman of the party, Elder Lowo Adebiyi, said achievements of Governor Aregbesola since assumption of office had made it easy for APC to record victory in the August 9 poll and charged party members to collectively work and convince members of opposition parties to support Aregbesola’s re-election bid in the interest of the state.
