Port Harcourt— Former governor of Bayelsa State  and leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state , Chief Timipre Sylva, has promised to work with Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State to ensure the party wins next year’s presidential election.

Chief Sylva, who gave the assurance at Government House, Port Harcourt, when he led APC chieftains in Bayelsa State on a solidarity visit to Governor Amaechi, said they will collaborate with the Rivers State chapter of APC  to deliver the  party in the coming general polls, noting that there were Bayelsans who were not happy with the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, though he hails from the state.

He said: “We of the APC in Bayelsa State decided to visit you (Amaechi) in solidarity and tell you that not everybody in Bayelsa is against progress. Not everybody in Bayelsa is an enemy of progress, that you also have a family in Bayelsa State that identifies with you all the way and we will stand with you all the way.

“When the time comes for us to sweep away the government of the day at the national level, Bayelsans will stand with you and be in the vanguard of sweeping away this government.”

In his response,  Amaechi thanked them for the visit and called for freedom of  choice in the country’s democracy.

“We want to be allowed to make our choices, express our views. We want to be allowed to express our interest and having expressed your interest and views, the best you can do is to remain convinced in what you stand for,” he said.
