Kwara to name street after Taiwo Awoniyi

Iloin – Kwara State House of Assembly has disclosed  that, it  has concluded plans to name a major street in Ilorin, Kwara state capital after a  Nigeria player, and kwara indigene, Mr. Taiwo Awoniyi who was part of the Nigerian players  that did the country proud during the last year world cup Under-17 competition held in United Arab Emirate(UAE).

The Speaker of the house, Hon. Abdulrazak Atunwa said  this in Ilorin on Tuesday while receiving the player, Mr. Taiwo Awoniyi  and his parents, Chief and Mrs. Awoniyi in his office, Ilorin.

The speaker said,” there is no doubt that, the player performed very well during the competition and even placed the name of Kwara state on the world map being an indigene of the state, nothing is too much to do to encourage people like him to serve as a shining examples to others’.

Atunwa noted  that, the exemplary outing of the footballer where he scored four goals for Nigeria during the competition needed to be encouraged so as to ginger him to do more in the nearest future for the country.

He pointed out  that, sport had remained a major tool to develop oneself noting that, having personally watched the matches, Mr. Taiwo Awoniyi did a great job during the competition which  made him a great footballer that deserved recognition.

He advised the player to continue to train so as to develop himself and increase on his present performance stressing that, in doing so, such  would make him one of the best footballer in the world.

Atunwa  also urged Awoniyi  to continue to be humble as he has always been and not  allow the success he has achieved to get to his head.

He added that as long as he adhere to the advice and with prayers,he will not only meet with people like him in the course of his career,he will meet with great men in the world as he progresses.

Earlier, the Awoniyi Manager, Mr. Goke Osatoba said that, the footballer started his career at the Ilorin Teachers College field where he distinguished himself before he travelled to Britain on the sponsorship of Coca-Cola.

Describing the player as “Messi of ilorin”he said that, the tough training that he underwent in the hands of Coach Olojo prepared him for the success today.

Osatoba however said that, the footballer has already been assigned by a club in Europe which he refused to disclose for security rasons.
