Elumelu joins Delta guber race, visits Olu of Warri

BY  Austin Ogwuda

Asaba—THE aspiration of a House of Representatives  member, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu of becoming the next governor of Delta State has received a boost.  Elumelu with his entourage was at the palace of the Olu of Warri, Atuwatse II, who gave him his fatherly blessings and prayed for him to succeed.

Also a pressure group, ‘Move Delta Forward’ in a statement in Asaba, yesterday, said that it was throwing its support behind Elumelu because of his willingness to serve the interest of all Deltans.

General Secretary of the group, Ogbueshi Peter Ezioyi in a statement, said “it is very obvious that Elumelu is out to serve the interest of all Deltans and not sectional interest because he believes in the oneness of Deltans, irrespective of their ethnic bearing. Although he is from Anioma, but other districts such as the Urhobos, Itsekiris, Isokos, Ijaws, are saying they are solidly behind him, knowing fully well  that apart from the fact that he is a performer, he does not discriminate and is humble.

“His pedigree is going for him too. Remember how he stood  resolute despite all manners of threats against him as the Chairman of the Committee on Power, he didn’t bulge. Even when tempted, he wasn’t swayed by the huge money offered. That is the type of person that should succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan because governorship is not a tea party. It requires somebody with the strong will to wheel the machinery of governance in the state.”
