ABEOKUTA — Pandemonium broke out, yesterday, in Agbado area of Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State when a trigger-happy soldier shot his colleague and a 32-year-old tricycle rider, Sunday Samuel, dead.
An eyewitness told Vanguard that trouble started at 10 a.m. when some soldiers stormed tricycles park in Agbado, a border town between Ogun and Lagos states, demanding money from the operators. This led to argument.
The source explained that the trigger-happy corporal (names withheld) shot Samuel of Owonikoko Street, Agbado area dead following his alleged refusal to pay.
The killer-soldier also reportedly shot his colleague who challenged him over the killing of the tricyclist because of his failure to give them money.
It was further gathered that the soldier took the corpse of his colleague in a bus and fled while leaving Samuel’s corpse at the scene.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the incident was being handled by Ogun and Lagos States commands.
He said: “The soldiers involved in the incident have been arrested and normalcy has returned to the place.
“I can confirm that the incident happened. But, Lagos and Ogun states commands are handling the matter. We have begun investigation and we will fish out the perpetrators of the act.”
