AWKA — GOVERNOR Peter Obi of Anambra State, yesterday, warned contractors executing projects for the state government to sit up or face sanctions.
Obi, who spoke while inspecting ongoing projects in various parts of the state, including road construction and renovation of school buildings, said while some of the contractors were performing to satisfaction, others were moving at snail speed which government could not condone.
Some of the projects inspected include the five star hotel projects at Agulu and Onitsha; shopping mall projects in Awka and Onitsha, as well as bridge projects at Nsugbe, Atani and Ishiagu.
At some of the sites, however, the governor said he was not satisfied with the pace of work, adding that there was no reason any contractor working in Anambra State should not be serious with his work since government did not owe them.
