Addressing journalist in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the Coordinator General of the ANG, Barry Idoga Odeh said the call was premised on the fact that “Mark is a politician with immense wealth of experience that can be used to advance the growth and stability of the country.
According of Odeh, “we are ready to mobilize Nigerians for the candidature of David Mark if he yields to our request to join the presidential race.
Odeh added that the group was canvasing support for Senator Mark because he had, since the advent of the present democratic dispensation, contributed immensely to ensure stability in the polity.
“We cannot forget in a hurry how his doctrine of necessity saved our nascent democracy from imminent collapse when the entire country was caught in a web that was beyond our widest imagination.
“At this moment of our national history and development, it has become imperative that we exploit the experience of the likes of Senator Mark to further advance the cause of development of this country.
“Today, this country is faced with protracted challenges despite being endowed with both human and natural resources, therefore, the president we desire at this time must be courageous, focused and detribalized; the ANG sincerely believe that Senator Mark possess these qualities and therefore should be compelled by Nigerians to run in the 2015 presidential election.
The ANG Coordinator assured that the group would soon tour the entire country to drum support for the project in order to persuade the Senate President to heed their call.
