Badia residents fault LASG’s verification exercise

BY MONSURU OLOWOOPE

Lagos—Lagos State Government has commenced verification exercise for 2,252 persons who were evicted after the government pulled down several structures in Badia East, Apapa-Iganmu Local Government.

The verification exercise has, however, been faulted by those evicted describing it as ‘tedious’ the procedure for the verification which would aid disbursement of the fund.

The verification which commenced on Monday at the National Theatre, Iganmu, is expected to authenticate the list of the evictees captured after the demolition exercise on February 23, 2013.

Speaking on the verification exercise, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeola Ipaye said: “The state government embarked on the  exercise for the purpose of disbursing the approved financial assistance by the government to the tenants and landlords affected by the demolition in the community.”
