Delay in the distribution of registration materials on Wednesday affected the smooth take-off of the nationwide membership registration by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa.
The Publicity Secretary of the state Interim Committee of the party, Alhaji Salihu Baba-Ahmed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the delay was caused by Monday’s grand rally organised by the party in Yola.
“We were busy trying to ensure a successful rally and that affected our preparation for the exercise.
“We are just distributing the materials to local governments so that the teams can proceed and commence the registration today,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He said adequate publicity had been made for the exercise to ensure mass participation.
Baba-Ahmed, however, apologised to party members for the delay and urged them to show support and understanding in ensuring a successful exercise.
Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in the state, including Gov. Murtala Nyako, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa and Malam Nuhu Ribadu, have proceeded to their local government areas of Mayo-Belwa, Jada, Michika and Yola South to participate in the exercise. (NAN)
