Abia govt reads riot act to contractors

UMUAHI — Abia State government has ordered contractors handling road and housing projects in the state to return to site or face its wrath.
The government said in a statement issued in Umuahia on Tuesday that the order became necessary to enable it complete all ongoing projects before the 2015 date of its termination.

The statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Charles Ajunwa, said the government had already constituted a high-powered team to monitor and ensure compliance to the order.
The government said it would be particularly ruthless with contractors who had been advanced money but chose to flout the order, warning them to adhere strictly to the directive.
It warned that contractors who disobeyed the order would have themselves to blame.
