Police parade court registrars


POLICE yesterday evening paraded three Registrars of the High courts in Okehi and Ahoada over the attack on the courts on January 6 this year.

According to the state Police Public     Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad the suspects were arrested for conspiracy, adding that they allegedly conspired to carry out the attacks on the two courts.

It would be recalled that an explosion rocked the Ahoada High court in the early hours of January 6, destroying a portion of the NBA building while fire gutted the Okehi high court. Documents and several valuables were consumed in the inferno.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad said the trio would be charged to court. “All of them Registrars of the High courts. We established cases of conspiracy in this three. “, he said.

The suspects who spoke to newsmen denied the allegation, stressing that the Police lied against them.

Meantime, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, CID in the Rivers state Police Command, Mr Sam Okaula said the suspects would have opportunity   to defend themselves in court.
