OWERRI—Imo State Police Command has apprehended four suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of former chairman of Ikeduru local government area, Chief Brendan Oguine.
Parading the suspects in Owerri, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Mohammed Musa Katsina, said two of the suspects were from Umueze Atta, Ikeduru, while the other two  were natives of Ezealaegbu, Ogada Atta.

He gave the names of the suspects as Iheoma Okereke (50), Iheanyichukwu Okereke (47), Akawoni Linus (50) and Amarachi Nwachukwu (20).
The CP said: “The above named suspects were arrested on January 19, 2014, at about 5.03am in connection with the murder of one Brendan Oguine of Ezealaegbu, Ogada Atta, Ikeduru local government area, in his house.”

According to the Imo police boss, “the suspects shot the victim dead and dumped his corpse in a nearby bush close to his house and they have all confessed to the crime.”
Similarly, the CP disclosed that the Command arrested eight others for kidnapping, child stealing and murder.

“Ojinnaka Igbokwe (24) of Okponkume, Ahiazu Mbaise, Okechukwu Uchenna (23) from Umudim, Ahiazu Mbaise, Ebuka Onyegbula (19) from Okirika Nkwerre, Ahiazu Mbaise and Nwahirine Inabehen (20) from Okirika Nweke, Ahiazu Mbaise were apprehended for child stealing and murder” the CP said.
Mr. Katsina said the suspects were involved in stealing three-year-old Onyebuchi Anayamelechi and a year and seven months old Chinedu Anyalemechi.
