Photo-speak: Remains of National Stadium, Surulere

A visit to the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, shows the stadia is in coma, with broken doors, unkempt, poor facility management among other lacks which puts the stadium in its deprived state. Here are photos of the remains of the stadium.

The roofs of the spectators’ stands are falling and the ambience welcomes visitors with smell of urine and faeces.

However, it should be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had recently approved the concession of the National Stadium, Lagos.

According to the Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, a Project Steering Committee and the Project Delivery Committee are to be instituted to liaise with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission to draw up modalities for the concession.
