NSCDC arrests petroleum vandals in Oyo


IBADAN — Oyo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has paraded  five suspected pipeline vandals in Ibadan.

The suspects were said to have been arrested at different locations in the city.

While parading the suspects, yesterday, the Oyo State commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Shem Obafaiye explained that four of the suspects were rounded-up on November 13 at Odo-Oba in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of the state.

He said a commercial bus marked Lagos XB 359 RSD was accosted with 135 empty kegs.

The names of the vandals, according to him, were  Matthew Kehinde, 35; Ayo Ajayi, 30; Suleiman Yahaya, 35, and Olaniyi Ezekiah, 20.

In a similar development,  a petroleum tanker with registration number Oyo XB 734 YRA was arrested overnight  at Ajagba village in Oyo East Local Government Area of the state.

One of the suspects, Ayo Ajayi, the owner of the commercial bus,  narrated how  he received a telephone call around 1.00a.m. that his bus had been arrested and when he got there,  he was arrested by officers of the command.
