ABUJA— AS President Goodluck Jonathan presents the 2014 budget proposal before the joint session of the National Assembly today, all legislative staff have been barred from resuming work until 2p.m.
A circular, dated November 18, by the Director, Personnel Management, Mr. Ishaya Sarki, on behalf of the Clerk of the National Assembly conveying the message, yesterday, warned that any staff that flouts the directive would be summarily dealt with, even as no reason was given for the action.
However, the circular stated that staff on the salaries of Grade Level 15 and above were exempted from the directive.
Vanguard gathered that apart from providing security for the President, the measure was aimed at preventing a planned protest by the staff, who had slated the day to show their grievances to President Jonathan over alleged preferential treatment being meted out to them by the National Assembly management.
