This year’s edition of   the famed Heineken Nigeria Cup Golf came to a thrilling end at the golf section of the Ikoyi 1938 on Sunday with Mufutau Balogun emerging as the tournament’s new champion. Balogun carded a net score of 72, to win the tournament by two-shots, beating over 180-others including last year’s winner, Joachim Schotyssek.

The week-long event also had Ajay K in the second position. Ajay netted a score of 74 while Afe I, who played off handicap 10,came in the third position after signing for 75-net.Olumide Ojutalayo and Obiora. Okonkwo completed the top five categories for men. While Ojutalayo netted a score 75 to lose on count back to Afe, Okonkwo shot an 18-hole round of 76-net also winning on count back.

Tim Ayomike, former Nigeria Cup winner topped in the gross category for men while Peter Eben-Spiff, also a former champion, ducked in the second position. Chris Obije also proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with grossing an 80-gross score to beat another former champion, Remi Olukoya. Olukoya carded 83-gross score.

Pat Bassey, signed for 85-gross score to complete the top five in the gross categories for men.
