THE Tony Nwoye Campaign Organization Friday faulted media reports that the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has described Senator Andy Uba as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying the court never gave such an order.
Members of the campaign organization, including his lawyer, Mr. Clems Ezika, former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Kelue Molokwu, former secretary to the Anambra State government, Mr. Osy Ezenwa, among others said what the court said was that Chief Ejike Oguebego should remain the state chairman of PDP pending the hearing and determination of the substantive originating summons.
They said: “The court has not said that Uba is the candidate. It only said that Oguebego should remain the chairman for now.
“By virtue of articles 58, 59, 61 and 62 of the PDP constitution and by virtue of article 51 and 52 of the electoral guideline, only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has the right to organize the party’s congress which was how Chief Tony Nwoye emerged.”
