YENAGOA—The Central Naval Command, weekend, handed over 11 Nigerians and a Cameroonian to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, over alleged involvement in the theft of 10,000 litres of illegally refined diesel off the Atlantic fringe of Egweama in Brass local government area of Bayelsa State.

The Cameroonian, according to the Command Operation Officer, Commodore Emmanuel Enemor, was identified as the Captain of the impounded vessel used by the suspects to convey the alleged stolen petroleum product.

The seized vessel, identified as MV Sea Giant, allegedly had no ship log, NPA bunkering permit and certificate of registration with the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta code named Operation Pulo Shield.

Presenting the suspects to the representative of the EFCC, Mr.Ogbu Chinedu Michael, Commodore Enemor said contrary to the claim by the suspects that the petroleum product on the vessel was for running machine, the laboratory sample showed that the product was illegally refined Automative Gas Oil, AGO.
