ABUJA — Health workers in the country, have given Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, 21 days to implement the judgement of National Industrial Court, NIC, on the 2009 agreement they had with the Federal Government or face an industrial action.
Justice B.A. Adejumo of the NIC had ruled in favour of the workers, operating under the aegis of Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU, on the implementation of the 2009 agreement but dismissed their prayers on the National Health Bill.
In a letter to the Minister of Health in Abuja, weekend, JOHESU called on the minister to immediately commence the implementation of the NIC ruling within 21 days or risk a massive industrial action in the sector.
The letter entitled “Compliance and implementation of National Industrial Court of Nigeria, NICN, judgement in respect of suit No. NICN/ABJ/238/2012 delivered on Monday, July 22, 2013,” was signed by the JOHESU chairman, Dr. Ayuba Waba, and two others.
The letter read: “We urge your ministry to give life to the judgment by immediately complying with the ruling and decisions of the court within 21 days from the date of this letter.”
