LAGOS — The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, yesterday said the body of the teenager who drowned last Friday at the Bar Beach, Lagos, was yet to be recovered.
This is just as the identity of the teenager who was reportedly swept by ocean surge was as at yesterday still unknown. Enquiries at the Bar Beach police division and others around the vicinity revealed that no one had come to complain of any missing person or identified the drowned teenager.
The teenager, a male, was sent to an early grave after some fun seekers celebrating the Eid-el-fitri at the beach suddenly raised alarm on noticing that the boy’s life was in danger. The victim, as gathered, was swimming when all of a sudden, the wave became boisterous and swept him deeper into the ocean.
Attempt by three life guards to rescue the drowning teenager failed as they could not go further following the intense wave of the surging ocean.
NEMA’s South West zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, told Vanguard on phone, yesterday, that the teenager’s body was yet to be recovered.
