Pope Francis arrives in Brazil on first overseas trip

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) – Pope Francis landed in Brazil on Monday for his first overseas trip since becoming the first pontiff from Latin America.

Television images showed his plane landing at the Rio de Janeiro airport, with President Dilma Rousseff on hand to greet the 76-year-old Argentine pope.
