Police in Enugu engage robbers in gun battle, arrest 2

The Police in Ogui division, Enugu State Command last weekend, arrested two suspected armed robbers while three escaped with bullet wounds.  It was gathered that the operatives acting on a distress call received at about 2 am that robbers were robbing residents of 113/114 Ogui Urban area,  Obiagu, Enugu, responded quickly to the call by proceeding to the scene and on sighting the operatives, the hoodlums believed to be numbering about five, opened fire on them.

Police sources said the operatives also replied and in the ensuing encounter, two of the hoodlums were hit by bullet hence they were arrested while others allegedly escaped with bullets wounds.

The two arrested hoodlums gave their names as Chizoba Nnamani (M) of Amechi Awkunanaw and Chukwuemeka Nnamani of Ugbawka in Nkanu East area of Enugu state.  They are helping the police in their investigation.

One of the suspected robbers, Chizoba Nnamani who was being rushed to hospital to be revitalized owing to the bullet injury he sustained in the course of exchange of fire is reported to have given up the ghost.   Meanwhile, the suspected robbers have been identified by residents as those terrorizing the neighbourhood in recent times.
