Police deny inviting Ubah for questioning

Contrary to speculations that a governorship aspirant for the 2014 governorship election in Anambra State, Dr. Ifeannyi Ubah, was last Friday invited by the state police command few hours after he joined the Labour Party, LP, the police yesterday stated that at no time was he invited for questioning over any matter.

A governorship aspirant had allegedly sent a petition to the police, alleging that Ubah was intimidating his supporters.

But speaking with newsmen, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, said:  “As I speak with you the state police commissioner is not in town.

“So when was the invitation made? I am not aware of any invitation by the police command and I do not see anything that would warrant that.

“Ifeanyi Ubah was never invited by the police and we do not have any reason from our record or file to invite him.

“I want to use this medium to advice the public, especially politicians to be very vigilant over the type of information that is being peddled by their colleagues”.

“This is election period and desperate politicians would want to use all manner of allegations to run down their opponents. But the command warns that the law has an answer to such illegal act and the police would be compelled to execute it.”

Reacting to the allegation the Media Assistant to Ifeanyi Ubah, Mr. Afam Iluno, told reporters that Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah was focussed towards serving and rescuing the people from inhuman governance.

“So this cannot be derailed by the antics of detractors from the powers that be and their cohorts. These group of people who have refused to subject themselves to democratic process should know that the will of the people shall always be permanent,” he said.

He said what further informed the decision of Dr. Ubah to join Labour Party was the litany of litigation in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), adding that some undemocratic forces and elements who had things to hide made sure the litigation continued.

According to Iluno, the only political party that does not have litigation or crisis and  well positioned to be used as tool to serve Anambra people is the Labour Party.

“Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah in quest to serve, have joined Labour Party as the platform for the journey. In choosing the platform, he looked at other political parties available but was convinced of Labour Party because of their programmes which is people oriented.

“The party has the interest of the people at heart and even showed in their party logo as the only political party in Nigeria that has human beings on it, while others use animate symbols of animals as their party logo.
