Monarch faults traditional councils’ merger

BY Emma Amaize

WARRI—FORMER national chairman of Traditional Rulers of Oil Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria, TROMPCON, HRM Charles Ayemi-Botu, weekend, slammed the Steering Committee of the South-South Monarchs Forum, SSMF, for allegedly deciding to form a coalition with South-East Traditional Rulers Council without discussing the matter with other royal fathers in the region.

HRH Ayemi-Botu, told Vanguard on phone, “I condemn unequivocally in the strongest terms, the unilateral decision of the Steering Committee of the South-South Monarchs Forum to enter into an unholy alliance with South-East Traditional Rulers Council prior to a general meeting to discuss exhaustively the pros and cons of such alliance.

“My attention was drawn to the proposed inauguration set for July 2 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The proposed merger is illegal, fraudulent, a nullity and of no effect until a general meeting of the SSMF is held.”
