The second batch of Kaduna State House of Assembly members are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for a week-long retreat, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The 12 members were led by the Speaker, Muazu Gangara, for the retreat organised by Express Lead Consult, a Kaduna base Consulting firm, with the theme “State Legislation and the Challenges of Insecurity in Nigeria“.
NAN reports that 17 members of the assembly including the Deputy Speaker, Dr Dogara Mato had just concluded a similar programme in Addis Ababa.
Ibrahim Othman, the Consultant, told NAN that five members did not turn up for the programme.
The legislators are expected to deliberate on issues of unemployment, insecurity, poverty, justice and equity, as well as other challenges facing the state.
“ We have identified certain measures that could address these challenges if well implemented,“ Othman said.
NAN reports that the the speaker would hold talks with AU Commission Deputy Chairperson, Eratus Nwencha and AU Commissioner for Peace and Security, Lamamra Ramtane on Wednesday.
The speaker would also visit the Nigerian Embassy in Ethiopia, where the Ambassador, Mr. Lolo Bulus is from Kaduna State. (NAN)
