Benue Government is to resuscitate the Otukpo Burnt Bricks Company to boost the economy of the state.
Gov. Gabriel Suswam said this on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen during an inspection tour of Makurdi International Modern Market.
The governor lamented the shortage of blocks to complete many ongoing state projects.
“I will look critically at the issue of resuscitating the block industry that we have in Benue,’’ Suswam said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the burnt bricks company had stopped production for sometime now.
The governor said that the contractor had assured him that the brick company would soon resume production.
He said that the Makurdi International Modern Market was supposed to be inaugurated in May but due to shortage of the burnt bricks, seven buildings had yet to be completed.
According to him, using different blocks will spoil the beauty of the work already done.
Suswam said that every other things in the market had been put in place.
NAN also learnt that the market was built with fire resistant materials. (NAN)
